Parenting in an Online World 101 – An Online Safety Event for Whānau Kia ora, e te whānau, We all want our schools and our Pāpāmoa community to be a safe place for our tamariki to grow. However, we know that in a rapidly changing digital world, the risks our children face online are growing—appearing more frequently and with more serious consequences. To support you in navigating this, Pāpāmoa Primary, Golden Sands School, and Te Manawa ō Pāpāmoa School have come together to host a vital presentation by Rob Cope, filmmaker, author, and producer of the powerful documentary Our Kids Online. About Rob Rob delivers a humorous yet eye-opening talk that strips away the jargon and gives you the honest truth about the digital landscape. This isn't just about "screen time"; it’s about understanding the world our children are living in. The evening will cover critical topics, including: The Big Risks: Cyberbullying and online predators Mental Health & The Brain: How social media and gaming-induced dopamine affects empathy, social skills, and anxiety. The New Frontier: Modern concerns around AI, Deepfakes, and Algorithmic Radicalisation. Real Solutions: Practical steps for filters, locking down smartphones, and setting healthy boundaries.
