Sports

Papamoa School has a sports programme available to students from all levels and of all abilities.  Students will be able to try new sports, develop sport specific skills, and strengthen existing skills.  The programme also provides an opportunity for students to create, develop and strengthen friendships and social skills inside and outside of the classroom.
At primary school level we should be encouraging children to try a broad range of sports and codes without pigeonholing or guiding them into one specific area. We offer a wide range of sports from Athletics to Water Polo where our students have the opportunity to ‘give it a go’, or compete with the ‘best’.
Primary school sports are heavily reliant on supportive parents and whanau, and we are always looking for enthusiastic mums and dads to coach or manage our teams. Experience is not needed, the time commitment is minimal, and it is a very rewarding experience to be involved in the start of our students' sporting pathways.
These pages will showcase some of the sports we are involved in.

Houses

In 2010 we introduced 'houses'  for our in-school sports and cultural activities.  All students are placed into one of the following houses:  Kowhai - yellow, Matai -white, Rimu - red and Totara - green.  ( Families join the same house).  Students are given opportunities throughout the year to earn points for their house by participating in various activities.

Netball is a very popular winter sport at our school.  Below are some of our netball girls with some of the "Magics" team members.

Papamoa School students are fortunate to have the use of our beautiful 25 metre heated pool throughout the summer months.

Surfing

Surfing is a popular sport in the Bay of Plenty so we ensure our children have the opportunity to "give it a go."
