Karewa Term 2

During Term 2, Karewa were fortunate enough to have lots of different visitors.

One of our earliest visitors in Term 2 was a hail storm.  This covered our school and made everyone think it was snowing.  Luckily for us there was no damage to the Karewa syndicate by the golf ball sized hail.  Also, during the time of the hail storm, we almost had a twister visit us.  Thankfully it didn’t get too close.

Term 2 saw us focusing on Transport – comparing the past to the present.  We have some lovely people in our community who brought along their forms of transport to share with us.  We even had an old horse and trap come to school and give a few children a ride.

To follow on from our "Past and Present" focus, the whole of the school hosted “Grandparents' Day”.  Grandparents from all over the country came to see what life in the classroom is like now and shared what life was like when they went to school.  This was all followed by a lovely shared lunch and barbeque.  A great time was had by all.

Mother Hen and her 10 little chicks came to Papamoa School.  They stayed at school for about two weeks.  Each class looked after them in their room for a day.  We learnt all about what they eat and how the hen looks after her chicks.  She was a very good mother and kept them all warm during the cold days and nights.
